Alta Vista Updates - October 30, 2026
Happy Halloween Weekend - be safe and respectful in the community, Aztecs.
At AVHS this week, we had lots of fun painting pumpkins, as well as dressing up a bit early for Halloween and wearing costumes for Friday's Halloween Costume Contest!

Aztec Achievement Award - Laurika Kaufusi
October 26, 2026

In the words of our Alta Vista teachers, Laurika has been awarded the Aztec Achievement Award for the following outstanding values and characteristics:
(Ms. Estrada) Laurika is a very respectful and bright student to have in class. She is clearly a natural historical thinker and produces great quality work that I enjoy reading.
(Ms. Lewis) Laurika is a great student to have in class. She works hard and is always willing to ask for help. Not only does she try to understand the topics she is working on, but she also helps other students sitting next to her. Laurika has big plans and goals for herself, and I can't wait to see what she accomplishes.
(Mr. Phillips) Laurika pushes herself to be better every day. She writes beautifully and bravely, and she pays attention to the details of assignments. She is willing to put in the time and effort to get where she wants to go, and I’ve already seen meaningful improvement in her writing and analysis skills.
(Mr. V) Laurika, you are on fire! You get to school early, and you seek out teachers so you can get ahead on your class assignments. Not only are you the consummate student by always being ready for class and working bell to bell, but you are also always looking for ways to improve your writing. Our learning environment is a better place when you are present in class. Keep pushing yourself.
Congratulations, Laurika, and family! We are very proud of your accomplishments at Alta Vista High School!

E-bike Safety Information from MVPD |
Our partners at MVPD have provided us with valuable information on E-bike safety in both English and Spanish. These brochures cover the different types of E-bikes, E-motos and E-scooters. These brochures discuss legal requirements to ride (ie. minimum age, driver license, etc.) and where they can be legally operated. There are also several short Transportation Safety Videos on the Police Department website that cover similar information.
We encourage families to discuss E-bike safety with their students so we can keep MVHS and our surrounding community safe.
