In two weeks, we have a four-day break. We will have school Oct. 5-7, and NO SCHOOL in MVLA district on Thursday/Friday, Oct. 8-9. We have our regular AVHS bell schedule Monday/Tuesday, Oct. 5-6, and a minimum day on Wednesday Oct. 7.

Aztec Achievement Award - Leo Rosas Hernandez

In the words of our Alta Vista teachers, Leo has been awarded the Aztec Achievement Award for the following outstanding values and characteristics:
(Ms. Estrada) I have seen some great work produced by Leo in my history classes and Leo has a great sense of unique humor and wit. He flies under the radar but can be a real scholar behind the scenes.
(Ms. Lewis) Leo has been showing up for himself in a big way this year. In math, he has taken the initiative to seek clarification when he is stuck on a topic. His work ethic this year has been amazing. With his motivation this year, Leo has made big gains in his math course and should be finishing out the 1st semester of this course soon. Leo, keep up the good work; you have been doing awesome.
(Mr. Luy) Leo consistently puts in strong effort in my PE class, especially in volleyball and pickleball. He is highly competitive and enjoys challenging himself and others.
(Mr. Phillips) Leonardo Aaron Rosas is a testament to the power of consistency. He’s a Warrior Lion who makes sure that his work is complete before leaving for the day. (Even on field trip days!)
(Mr. V) Leo has harnessed the autumn wind to aid him in his studies this school year. He has been consistent with his attendance and has applied pride and poise to his class assignments. Leo has clearly made a commitment to excellence this year. Keep it up, Leo! you are just scratching the surface of your potential. "JUST WIN, BABY"

Announcement about Tardies: keep up that effort and arrive prior to the 9am late bell! If you arrive after 9:10am, you will need to present your teacher with both our pink tardy slip AND cell phone as you enter.

Field trip to CSU Monterey Bay! October 13
We are headed south to Monterey to check out another college campus!!
Seniors, make sure you return your signed permission slips so that you are ready to go for the field trip. Juniors – if you are interested in joining the seniors, we likely will have space for a number of you. See Ms Wallace to get a copy of a permission slip. Once you return the signed copy of the form you will be added to the waitlist.
Your attendance will be considered when determining whether or not you will be joining the field trip. Each day between now and October 13, make sure you are at school on time for 1st period.
Each Thursday during 6th period, you can also earn PE points. Come work out with Mr. Luy in the MPR for Thursday 6th periods: lift weights, play badminton or pickleball, or get a workout walking, biking or stairclimbing and earn those points.
Join your local Community Services Agency in a fun evening for the entire family!

Safari Run - Sunnyvale
Safari Run reached out directly and they are currently hiring part-time Weekend Party Hosts ($19.50/hour + tips).
The role is structured around high school schedules and offers practical experience in time management, team coordination, and public speaking.
