Aztec Achievement Award - Leo Rosas Hernandez

May 18, 2026

In the words of our Alta Vista teachers, Leo has been awarded the Aztec Achievement Award for the following outstanding values and characteristics:

(Ms. Estrada) Leo is a very capable student who has the ability to do well when he puts his mind and effort towards a task or goal.

(Ms. Lewis) Leo is such a great person.  He is always kind to others and willing to help out someone in need.  Leo works hard and always tries his best to understand the topics he is working on in math.  Leo is such a great student to have in class, and I can't wait to see his growth over the following years.

(Mr. Luy) Leo is very polite and respectful toward both peers and staff. He also does an excellent job checking in on his academic progress and shows initiative in making sure he stays on track.

(Mr. Phillips) Leo has been working hard in English all year.  Even when he’s having a tough day or isn't feeling it, he always gets something done. When he needs to stay for 6th period, he uses the time wisely and gets something turned in before he leaves.  This focus has made a major difference in his grades.

Keep going, Leo.

(Mr. Stevens) Leo is an excellent PE student.  He comes to class consistently.  He participates at a high level and he assists others when needed.  Leo also displays good sportsmanship and he is a quintessential team player.  Overall, Leo is a pleasure to have in PE.

Congratulations, Leo, and family! We are very proud of your accomplishments at Alta Vista High School!

MVLA Speaker Series

After over 15 years, the MVLA Speaker Series will be wrapping up its program. During this time, dedicated teams of volunteers have invited and hosted an impressive array of speakers who have addressed parenting, child, and community issues. All of this was made possible with the generous support of the MVLA High School Foundation, the Los Altos Educational Foundation (LAEF), the Mountain View Educational Foundation (MVEF), and the Los Altos Mountain View PTA Council (encompassing all the PTA units in LASD, MVWSD, and MVLA). Unfortunately, as speaker costs have risen and attendance has dropped, it has become apparent in the last few years that resources may be better used elsewhere. We are so proud of our volunteers' work and grateful for the support of our funders and attendees over the years. Thank you for supporting parent education in our districts.

If you are interested in attending other local speaker events, please see:
