MVLA Retirement Honors
Each year, at its last regular meeting of the school year, the Board of Trustees recognizes the contributions of the esteemed MVLA who are retiring. Students from Freestyle Academy created a video to showcase the honorees, several of whom were recognized in person at the retirement reception.
STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Throughout each school year, the MVLA Board of Trustees recognizes the achievements and accomplishments of selected students: MVLA Students of the Month.
Students are selected for this honor based on a variety of factors. A prerequisite for selection as a Student of the Month is outstanding academic achievement, defined as a weighted current GPA of 3.5 or higher, although other factors may be considered in the selection process.
These other factors may include but are not limited to extracurricular successes, community service, character values, involvement on campus, exemplary leadership skills and/or outstanding accomplishments outside of school. Students of the Month shall exemplify the core values, qualities, and vision of the MVLA District.
Some examples of past Student of the Month recipients include academic scholars, presidents of active clubs, multiple sport student-athletes, and students who are widely involved in organizations on campus.
Broad school involvement is not a prerequisite for selection, but all Student of the Month recipients must demonstrate a positive work ethic, moral character, and an appreciation for our community’s diversity.

I’m excited to share a few updates from our campus that highlight student engagement, appreciation, and the transition into the final stretch of the school year.
This week, students are looking forward to one of our annual campus traditions: the dodgeball tournament. Organized through ASB, this event has generated a lot of excitement as students formed teams and prepared to participate. The tournament gives students an opportunity to connect with their peers, show school spirit, and enjoy a fun and friendly competition as we move closer to the end of the school year.
Last Wednesday, our Student Leadership class also hosted a Teacher Appreciation Week activity focused on recognizing the dedication and impact of our teachers. Students were invited to write kind notes and messages of appreciation to staff members across campus. It was a meaningful opportunity for students to express gratitude for the support, guidance, and encouragement they received from teachers throughout the year.
Academically, students are also celebrating an important milestone as AP testing has officially concluded. Over the past several weeks, students have shown dedication and perseverance while balancing rigorous coursework and exams. We’re proud of the hard work they’ve demonstrated and appreciate the support of teachers and staff who helped students prepare throughout the process.
Looking ahead, we are excited for our upcoming Senior Award Night, where we will recognize and celebrate the achievements of our graduating seniors. This event serves as an opportunity to honor students for their accomplishments across academics, leadership, service, and other contributions to our school community. It is always a meaningful occasion as we celebrate the dedication and growth of the senior class.
Overall, our campus continues to be filled with energy and involvement as students remain engaged both academically and within the broader school community. Thank you for your continued support. (Written by Lucy Lai, Student Board Rep, LAHS.)
As we enter the final three weeks of school, I'm pleased to share some updates and upcoming events from the Mountain View campus.
Spirit Week is currently underway with a Disney+ theme, featuring classic dress-up days like Beach Day alongside new ones like Descendants Heroes vs. Villains. Today we held our last rally of the year, which included community-building activities, Disney-themed games, Student of the Month recognition, and a special senior celebration capping off the Class of 2026's four years. It was a wonderful day full of school spirit and pride.
However, even as the year winds down, campus groups remain very busy. This Friday, the Green Team will host another Walk or Wheel Day, handing out candy to students who walk or bike to school. Next Friday will also mark the final Spartan Pause of the year, our monthly lunchtime event where Ambassadors bring different groups together to promote positivity and wellness, a fitting close to a month full of AP exams, finals, and end-of-year preparations.
Looking ahead, we have a full week of awards and celebrations. It kicked off this afternoon with Senior Signing Day, honoring MVHS students who will compete in collegiate athletics. Other highlights this week include the Madrigals final concert today, Orchestra's end-of-year finale tomorrow, Senior Awards Night on Wednesday, and the Ambassadors Banquet on Friday. Also on Friday, incoming students and families are invited to 8th Grade Sports Night to learn about the athletic opportunities awaiting them at Mountain View.
Overall, it has been a busy and rewarding close to the school year at Mountain View High School. Thank you for your continued time and support. (Written by Claire Schwarzhoff, Student Board Rep, MVHS.)
The Board will formally recognized outgoing Student Trustees Claire Schwarzhoff from Mountain View High School and Lucy Lai from Los Altos High School, both of whom have served from August 2025 through May 2026. The Superintendent introduced the incoming Student Trustees, Kapil Shastry from Mountain View High School and Mylee Ben Tovim from Los Altos High School for the 2026-27 School Year.
Board Policy 5145.3 on nondiscrimination/harassment, Board Policy 5131.2 on bullying, and Board Policy 4030, nondiscrimination in employment and others approved by the Mountain View Los Altos High School District Board of Trustees are indicative of the District's priority to ensure a safe environment free of harassment and discrimination for students and staff. Furthermore, it is the goal of the Board of Trustees to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity within our district, both student and staff. Towards that end, Resolution No. 25/26-27 is prepared to proclaim June 2026 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Pride Month.
