Aztec Achievement Award - Dulce Cruz Cardoso
April 13, 2026

In the words of our Alta Vista teachers, Dulce has been awarded the Aztec Achievement Award for the following outstanding values and characteristics:
(Ms. Estrada) Dulce is a very respectful student who has a great sense of humor in our class. She tries really hard to get her work done with intention and integrity. She is a great friend to her peers and helps create a positive experience on campus for the school community.
(Mrs. Garza) Dulce has been an awesome addition to the AVHS leadership team this school year! She consistently demonstrates a proactive attitude and strong commitment to the well-being of our school community. Her follow-through and enthusiasm for serving our AVHS community is admirable. Recently, Dulce took the initiative to lead the Aztec Boutique and assisted in securing a generous grant after she successfully presented to a partnering organization. I’m very proud of you and excited to see you grow as a leader at AVHS!
(Ms. Lewis) Dulce, you are such a wonderful student to have in class. Not only are you a great student, but you are also kind to others in class. You are always willing to help your tablemates, and you work well with others. It has been such a joy to have you in class. You're always trying your best, and are always willing to ask for help when you are stuck on a topic. Dulce, keep up the good work.
(Mr. Luy) Dulce demonstrates a clear understanding of the class structure and expectations. She has a positive attitude and participates with enthusiasm even when others choose not to engage. Her ability to stay motivated and set a positive example for her peers is commendable.
(Mr. V) Dulce is witty but also very respectful at the same time. and always prepared for class. Dulce is confident and, when motivated, can articulate her opinion, which deepens class understanding. I am proud of her effort and know she is only scratching the surface of what she is capable of. Keep it up, Dulce! We believe in you!
Congratulations, Dulce, and family! We are very proud of your accomplishments at Alta Vista High School!
Please mark your calendars! The Alta Vista Spring Open House is coming Thursday, May 7 (drop in anytime between 5pm & 6pm):

Thank you to Mentor Tutor Connection and Miss Alba for leading our most recent MTC group field trip to Filoli Gardens right before Spring Break!

Sophomores earn (2) additional credits in health/elective by participating in Teen Talk High School, April 13-24. This is a 10-12 hour comprehensive sexual health education course developed by Health Connected, and meets California’s Health Education Content Standards for “Growth, Development, and Sexual Health.” See more info here.
Driver’s Education: Alta is offering online driver’s education class (needed for your CA DMV permit test) for 2.5 elective credits, and free of charge to you! Talk to your advisor if you want to take Driver’s Education with us, or already have a certificate of completion (so we can add elective credits to your transcript).
Premier Food Safety Certification: if you’d like to complete this 30-hour course to prepare you for work in the restaurant or food industry, please let your advisor know. You can also earn 2 credits for electives or practical arts upon completion, and this is a fantastic resume builder!
